Ayurveda

A holistic blueprint for your best life.

(ayur) = Life (veda) = Truth, knowledge, science

Ayurveda literally translates to “the science or truth of life." It is the practice of living with truth and integrity; both within yourself and the world around you. While it is considered the first known medical system in the world, its deepest power lies in its intimate and harmonious relationship with nature. Ayurveda teaches us to pay attention to the qualities and rhythms of nature and her elements in order to better understand our personal qualities and life rhythms. In this system, we understand that the macrocosm (Mother Nature) is reflected in the microcosm (you!) — that each person holds a unique combination of each of the five elements (ether, air, fire, water, and earth). These elements make up our Ayurvedic personality, or prakruti, which gives insight into the ways we think, act, feel, and move. When we can understand the nature of our prakruti, we can begin to address areas of imbalance or unnecessary suffering.

Consider Ayurveda the lifestyle of yoga: using accessible remedies like food, lifestyle, self-care, herbal support, movement, and ritual to create balance & ease.

As an Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher, Marissa blends ancient wisdom and modern mysticism, creating an intuitive, accessible, and fun form of Ayurveda that is easily integrated into your life. She aims to educate and empower you to get in the flow of nature in order to uncover your own true nature.

She has studied the magic of Ayurveda at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and feminine form Ayurveda with her teacher, Katie Silcox, through the Shakti School. Ayurveda is the glue that holds her personal and professional worlds together, and she credits its power to a majority of her own personal health and healing.
