Spring Recipe Bundle

Did you know that your overall health and state of harmony is directly related to your digestion? In ayurveda, we believe that all imbalances come from either the mind or the gut; and that actually, the pathway that connects the two means they're actually the same.

This means that what you eat, and how you eat it, has a 100% direct impact on the quality of your thoughts and emotions. I get a lot of questions about how to get started with ayurveda, and I often recommend starting in your kitchen.

I've assembled 8 of my favorite, well loved, and totally DELICIOUS recipes for you in a new spring bundle, specifically designed to help keep your mood and mind light and bright while your digestive system gets an energetic boost!

Here's a sneak peek:

Arugula tahini pesto
Cauliflower steaks with spiced chickpeas
Lemon rose poppy balls
Energizing Coffee Scrub

Please make your payment below, and then the bundle will be sent to you!

Teaching Trauma-Informed Yoga

Teaching Trauma-Informed Yoga

All trauma is somatic. Regardless of the depth of one's trauma or the means in which it was experienced - even the trauma itself was not physical - it lives within the body. We all have bodies. Thus, the likelihood that you are working with someone who is a trauma survivor is high: how do you do so effectively and sensitively? This workshop will lead you through a somatically-informed approach and application on how trauma lives in the body, and the ways in which to work with it safely and effectively. Beyond what asanas to teach and how, this approach takes neuroscience and somatic psychology into account, providing participants with tangible tools to use with clients. We will explore how power, privilege, and difference live in the body and how they impact trauma; and what it means to be working with a trauma survivor as a trauma-based educator or specialist. The techniques we cover can be applied in either group or individual work, and can also be applied to you: you will learn about the ways in which to keep yourself resourced and safe during times of challenge, as well as when working with others.

This intensive weekend will cover:

  • How to create safe spaces

  • Resourcing and containment for self and others

  • Signs and symptoms of trauma activation in the body

  • Oscillation of attention and body sensation/awareness

  • Expression and sequencing of trauma and other "stuck" emotions/experiences

  • Trauma-informed teaching language

  • Trauma-informed asana and modifications

  • Therapeutic use of touch: when to do it; when not to

  • The nervous system: interoceptive and exteroceptive approaches

  • Boundaries: what they are, how to create them, and where they exist with the yoga teacher/student relationship

This workshop is eligible for CEUs through Yoga Alliance.
*This workshop is also part of the curriculum for 300-hr YTTs*

Ayurvedic Pranayama

Ayurvedic Pranayama

The breath is an important part of our yoga practice, but why? Prana, the vital force; and ayama, expansion or control; teach us that we have the ability to both expand and amplify our vital energy, as well as consciously control and direct it. Either way, our inherent juiciness is increased by connecting to the breath.

This workshop will focus on powerful and accessible techniques designed to nurture, balance, and vitalize you to the fullest based on time of day and season. We will explore the three doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and learn how to harness the unique subtle energy within. You will cultivate integrated Pranayama techniques for your daily life and yoga practice. A modern and fun approach will be given to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, the lifestyle of yoga, to empower you to go to deeper into your practice -- when we let prana lead the way, our potential for growth, healing, and exploration is significantly increased.

Ayurveda 101

Ayurveda 101

In this interactive workshop, you will learn about the ancient history of Ayurveda with a modern and accessible approach. Ayurveda, the lifestyle of yoga, is a holistic blueprint on how to live with the most authenticity, ease, and balance. Through aligning with the rhythms of nature, we align with our own inner nature. Doing so allows for greater freedom and power within the yoga practice. We will view both Yoga and Ayurveda holistically, integrating various practices to support asana, pranayama, meditation, and lifestyle. Where Yoga is considered to be a science of realizing the self, Ayurveda is the science of supporting you to get there: the science of self-healing, designed to relieve imbalances in body and mind. When Yoga and Ayurveda work together as a team, we are able to achieve health and harmony in deeper, more integrated ways.

This workshop is designed to increase personal awareness in order to build a strong tool kit for leading yoga classes or for your personal practice. Through the lens of the five elements, you will learn how to soothe imbalances in the body, mind, heart, and spirit and how those imbalances present in the three Doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. You will be able to find balance for yourself and others during times of transition, seasonal changes, and life's daily rhythms. Come ready to explore a holistic and embodied set of practices, based on asana, pranayama, meditation, and the subtle body. Additionally, we will study balancing Ayurvedic lifestyle principles and techniques, and their relationship to the Gunas and Prana, Tejas, and Ojas.

You will learn:

  • How each dosha presents in the body

  • Dosha-balancing yoga and meditation practices

  • How to create a dosha-balancing yoga sequence

  • Lifestyle and self-care practices to optimize ease and balance for your day-to-day

  • The Ayurvedic view of food and digestion + why this matters for your yoga practice

This workshop is eligible for CEUs through Yoga Alliance.

Yin and the Shadow

Yin and the Shadow

Over time, our experiences get embedded in the tissues of the physical body: our body becomes a literal map or representation of what is occurring for us on deeper levels of our experience. In this workshop, we will explore the value of settling into stillness as we target the energetic meridians of the body that correspond to physical, emotional, mental, and energetic well-being. In going deep into our holistic, lived experience through the body, we have access to stored or repressed elements of self -- aka, our "shadow" -- those pieces of our lived experience or ourselves that present a challenge; that are unfamiliar; or that have not yet been fully integrated.

The idea of the shadow may sound intriguing or intimidating because it has not yet been explored as a valuable aspect of one's experience -- and this workshop will provide you with the opportunity to explore what wisdom the shadow is trying to offer you. The yin yoga practice itself could be called a shadow of our more active yoga and movement practices. It provides the space and the opportunity to create balance through slowing down, tuning in, and listening to what arises in the moment. As we dig into the philosophy and practice of yin yoga, we will work on integrating all parts of experience in order to come into a sense of fullness. You can expect to leave this workshop with tools on how to stay present with a broader range of sensation, feeling, and thought and a newfound sense of clarity.

In addition, you will learn:

  • the underlying philosophy of yin yoga

  • how to define and identify what shadow is

  • what shadow is trying to communicate to you

  • how the practice of yin is complementary to the psycho-emotional exploration of shadow and other stored experiences or emotions

Seasonal Ayurveda Practice: Reflection & Vibrancy for Winter

The winter season is a time of coolness, darkness, slowness, and stillness. We see this around us in nature as the fast pace of the fall season, filled with change, begins to settle. Once the movement of the fall harvest, colorful leaves, and fluctuating weather settles, we are invited to do the same: winter is a time to rest in order to create space for yourself and your deepest visions to manifest. This time of year is potent for harnessing intuition and mobilizing your creativity and emotional intelligence, but it may also promote feelings of coldness, lethargy, or stuckness.

Find balance and ease this winter through a warming, invigorating, and expansive practice filled with nourishing asana, pranayama, meditation and discussion. We will focus on ways to create your own inner light and warmth this time of year, as the external light and warmth wanes. Learn the wisdom of slowing down and turning within to find your own natural rhythm, deepest sense of self, clarity, and strength. This workshop will enliven you from the inside out, balance and replenish your body, and empower you to live and practice with greater ease. We will end our time together with a mini self-oil massage, abhyanga, so please bring clothing that is easily moved out of the way to access the arms, hands, legs, and feet.

This is balancing and replenishing for all, no matter what your dominant dosha or imbalance may be. We are all affected by the seasons; therefore, we will focus on best practices and techniques to stay vibrant and healthy season to season.
